COURTESY POST - Meet Elmer. He went from a street dog to a wanna be lap dog. He learned the joys of regular food & air conditioning and never turned back. He is a Rottweiler mix, but on the smaller side, around 50 lbs. Elmer loves walks & going to the dog park, playing with his foster siblings, playing tug of war & patrolling the yard for squirrels.
Elmer was found on the streets of Oak Cliff, with a buddy, hanging out. It took a few weeks of regular feedings, but then he came around & let his human friend touch him. He was taken to a vet & they found he had a few broken ribs, a BB lodged in his body & was heartworm +.
He made it through heartworm treatment & his injuries have healed. He realized what it meant to "be a dog", being handled by humans & being able to relax & play. He does have a big bark, but is a gentle soul.
Elmer is potty trained & has good experience in crates, but doesn't use one currently. He truly has become a transformed dog, in his foster family's care. He loves belly rubs & being with his family. Please consider becoming Elmer's forever family. Please contact Gypsy Dog Ops, to meet Elmer: http://www.gypsydogops.com/?page_id=5470.
