I had the most wonderful Dad. When he chose me as a pupster we fell in love instantly. I was so excited when I first saw my forever home. It was filled with soft places to lay my head. Toys and water bowls seemed to be everywhere. My Dad fed me very well and made sure I had good healthcare so I grew strong and healthy. Me and my Dad we settled down comfortably for many years of happiness. How I loved our long walks on my favorite leash, it let me go waaaaay out. But I always came back because I had the best Dad. I sat in his lap and watched endless hours of tv. My Dad really loved old movies. After a while my Dad started to change. I knew he still loved me. I could tell in his touch. But small things were different and it kind of scared me. I made sure to stay close to him. Sometimes I worried he would fall. Sometimes he forgot to fill my water bowls but I did not mind. I had the most wonderful Dad. He seemed better for a while so I stopped worrying. But then he really started to change and I knew something bad was happening. When my Dad found out he had Altzhiemers Disease he told me all about it. He talked for a long time. I didn't totally understand but I knew things would never be the same. One day my Dads family had to take him for special care far away. They need to take care of him and I understand. I feel better knowing that he is in a safe place. But there was no room for me in my Dad's new home. I wish I was allowed to live with him because I know he would remember me. I could lick his face and twirl around like he loves. But that can't happen so now I need a new wonderful Dad. It would be fine to have a new Mom. I love kids and other dogs large and small too. I may be twelve but I lie about my age and nobody has caught me yet :) My Dad always said I would outlive him. He worried about that. Small dogs can live to be 20 he told me. I have so much more life in me. My Dad wanted me to find a new home before he had to go away but it all seemed to happen so fast. Suddenly I was in a strange home, tired, scared and my teeth hurt. I found out that ANIMAL RESCUE OF TEXAS was willing to help me find a new forever home. My foster mom and dad have helped me adjust. I had my teeth cleaned, a bath, a pretty haircut and I feel like a new woman. I know I can not stay here. They already has five rescue dogs. But I'll be safe and well-fed (always important to any dog) until someone takes me to their heart. If you end up being my new family I promise to bring with me all the love and companionship I learned in my first twelve years. I learned it all from my wonderful Dad. I hope he knows how much I appreciate our years together. I love you, Dad. Happy Father's Day.
