Shelley is a very active, playful dog. Her favorite things are her toys, especially if it involves playing keep-away with her foster siblings. She is always carrying a toy or chew stick in her mouth. Shelley is very smart and loves to learn new tricks. Her favorite tricks are "shake" and “high five”. Shelley is perfectly content minding her own business with a toy or rawhide, and just likes to be near her people. She is very curious about everything going on in the household.

Shelly also has a quirky side to her. If someone leaves the room for a period of time and comes back in, she will announce their arrival with a typical basenji yodel. It’s really interesting to hear and she gets a lot of laughs with it.

Shelley is active and must get enough exercise so she doesn't get bored. She would make a great running buddy except for one thing. If she sees a squirrel on the path, all else is forgotten. Her hunting instincts kick in and she thinks it is her duty to rid the world of those pesky critters. She has been very effective in keeping our backyard squirrel free. The mighty hunter!

Shelley has a great personality and her unique curly tail just adds more character. She is slow to accept a new dog, but with time, she will warm up to them. Shelley will make an excellent and loyal companion for the right adopter.

All of our animals come fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped. Our adoption fee is $150 for dogs, $85 for cats and $85 for senior pets.
