I HAVE AN ADOPTION PENDING!!!

Meet Nelson! Nelson was dumped on a VERY cold and rainy night. The woman who found him under her car described him to ART as a rottweiler puppy. When he was picked up and discovered to be an obvious terrier puppy, he was dubbed our teacup rottie. This description has come to ring very true as we've gotten to know Nelson's personality better: he thinks he is BIG!

 Nelson, however, from what we can tell, is actually a wee little yorkie/schnauzer mix. He is approximately 13 weeks old, 3lbs, and finishing his puppy shots. Nelson is great with other dogs of all sizes, good with, but slightly curious about cats, walks well on a leash, and like all puppies his age, is currently perfecting his potty training habits. He is fabulously crate trained, and sleeps all night in his crate without accidents.

 Nelson is equal parts baby and feisty mongrel-y mutt. He lives for a comfy lap, prefers to be as close to his human as possible, and is a master at snoring on your chest while watching movies. During lazy weekend naps, he artfully creates labrynths under the covers, exploring every edge of the bed, before collapsing with a big sigh next to (or on top of) you. That said, Nelson is definitely a "dogs dog." He holds his own against the biggest of them, specifically his foster siblings, each large and in charge in their own right: a pit/shepherd mix, a doberman, and a husky. Nelson prefers to be in the middle of their rowdy rustlings, and keeps everyone in line. We would love to see Nelson go to a home with another rascally friend to keep company.

 Nelson is your typical 13 week old puppy. He's looking for a patient home to continue working on his potty training and behavioral training. While it's adorable at this age for him to "help" with the dishes by climbing in the dishwasher, or to "help" with the laundry by wandering up into the dryer and into the basket, Nelson needs a home that can overlook his utter adorableness and make sure he learns acceptable doggie behavior. He is a smart boy, and a quick learner, though he can be argumentative when given demands: sometimes he barks his cute puppy bark back when told no! Potential homes for Nelson should apply only if ready for puppy training.

 Bottom line: this little man has endless amounts of love and gratitude in him, and will provide endless hours of entertainment.

Our process for adopting puppies is a little different from adopting an adult dog: 1). Your application and home visit must be completed before final approval for adopting a puppy (including meeting the puppies). At the home visit we will check if your fence is secure, help you identify anything that may entice puppy curiosity/chewing, etc. 2). Your contract will include a special provision that you will agree to take your puppy to Puppy Obedience Training within 30 days of adoption. IF YOU CAN NOT COMMIT TO THIS PROCESS, please do not apply for a puppy. There are NO exceptions. We do this to ensure our puppies STAY in their forever homes.
