Luke is a wonderful adult Beagle that was rescued for a local shelter when his owners never came to claim him. And his previous owners did not keep him on heartworm preventative so Luke has tested positive for heartworms. Currently he is undergoing treatment and will be ready soon for adoption. Luke's personality is a class act and he seems to have an instant bond to any human he comes in contact with. You can't help but be tickled by the subtle way he nudges your hand to pet him or the way he suddenly topples over to get you to rub his belly- this dog knows how to communicate what he wants! Although Luke is a young 5-6yo dog he still has the spunk and enthusiasm of a young pup but the manners and attentiveness of a dog of his years. His foster has found Luke to be a delight with her other (much larger dog) and the two have become fast friends. But in an attentive, permanent home Luke won't necessarily be the type of dog who requires a buddy, he can feels he can handle the constant attention all by himself! Luke is already crate and potty trained and knows several tricks. He's also easily taught due to his love of delicious treats! We feel that Luke would do well in any type of family willing and able to give him the constant love and attention he needs and desires.
